My husband and I (Sandy & Brian) were blessed to be invited on the Akasha by Carol & Charlie. I have to say it was a most excellent and awesome vacation. A once in a lifetime experience! What made it so awesome, besides the most beautiful destinations and sails, was the crew. Tiago & Priya were soooo nice, accommodating, patient, pleasant to visit with, very attractive etc I can’t even put into words. They were professional yet very personable. Cara was the best of everything you could ask for in a chef, plus some. The food was healthy, delicious, very satisfying and I even ate a few things that I don’t normally eat because she made it so delicious. In addition to her great talent as a chef, she was very informative, very pleasant to talk to, very attractive also. I only wish she could have gone diving with us. Captain Harvey was thoroughly professional and entertaining. I loved to hear all of the crews’ accents. I never felt anxious about the trip. Captain Harvey made us feel so comfortable and safe throughout the whole trip. Every day was a great adventure, but Harvey’s stories and his responses were so entertaining. He is quite witty. They all put up with our crazy group. I will always remember this trip, but especially the crew that made it so much fun. Maria and I learned the stand up paddle thing which I thought I would never get. That was awesome! The sailing was the best ever! I love the trampoline! I can’t imagine the crew being able to make this trip any more enjoyable unless they were to be on the trip with us as guests. Very clean, professional, excellent!! Sydney The Akasha crew are not only visually attractive and appealing, they are delightful and diligent workers as well. They exemplify the perfect example of brilliant leadership and teamwork! They operate like a well-oiled machine. Captain Harvey has an intoxicating sense of humour with a quick wit and subtle charm. Coupled with those qualities he is timely, efficient, organized, gracious and astute. He serves his guests with confidence and skill, and he leads his crew in the same manner. Cara is a fantastic chef with a delightful presence and personality. Before each meal she would take the time to inform us of the food we would be eating and even answered questions that were posed to her i.e…(ingredients, recipes etc). She was sensitive to each of our food likes/dislikes and all portion size requests. Her bread was ‘to die for’. Chef Cara even took the time to sit and share some personal stories with us. She is great. Priya (P) is a beautiful, charming young lady who is poised, elegant, dignified, welcoming and warm. She exudes self-confidence packaged in a humble spirit. P is a diligent worker and went above and beyond to ensure we had clean rooms each day and night. She personalized our stay with a truffle and meaningful quote each day. Constantly ‘checking in’ she attempted to provide us with a beverage, snack or towel any time one might be needed. Beautiful inside and out this young lady is a treasured gem! Tiago (T) is a handsome young man with a winning smile and eager and willing spirit. A man of ‘many tasks’ he kept busy not only serving us, but also attending to his Captains requests and needs. He added to our enjoyable experience as we watched him ‘having fun’ doing his job. Honestly – the Akasha crew exemplifies the meaning of teamwork. However, it takes more than these skills to tend to a boat and its passengers…… it also takes personal relation skills, and a passion for people and providing them service…Akasha’s crew ‘has it all!!’ Maria PS Cara just made us grilled ham and cheese sandwiches for a pre-dinner snack. She did this because she overheard us say that we would like some. She rocks! AND P made us chocolate martinis for the same reason! Star! Words leave me – the week has been light years beyond our dreams for our 1st anniversary with family and friends. 5 star restaurants have nothing on Cara. Charlie and I are huge ‘foodies’ – we cook for entertainment, or we did. Not sure we can do that after eating Rabbits marvellous cooking. Charlie and David are huge sailors, but they are awed by Harvey’s skill, humor and attention to detail! Priya and Tiago must be from another planet. They are kind beyond measure, are professional in every manner and taught most of us new skills from paddle board to sunfish to water skis! Priya’s tablescapes rival the television shows; Tiago’s tenacity with the fishing poles are unparalled. We hope that Harvey and Cara are half as happy in their upcoming marriage as Charlie and I have been: they have an amazing partnership on the water. While all The BVI is beautiful, and you have displayed it well, the real treat is the warmth and togetherness you have enveloped us with. If we are not your favourite guests we are certainly not aware of that. We can only return the love. Charlie Easily the most fulfilling vacation we have been blessed to enjoy. From the first greeting at Beef Island Airport and with each waking moment Captain Harvey entertained, waited upon, shared with and engaged all of us with such British Pride. A true gentleman, scholar, sailor with just a touch of scoundrel, all rolled into one. Cara – while your daily offerings were well beyond my usual experience, all were enjoyed and totally consumed by me. The culinary experience while on this vessel has expanded my horizons and will act as a springboard for future food and drink experiences. T – You have been such a pleasure for me on this trip. You are the kind of man any father would be pleased to acknowledge as his own. Dedicated, hard working, polite, warm and maintaining a young sense of adventure. You will always do well in life with your attributes. P – Lovely, warm, sincere, smart, engaging, thoughtful… There are so many positive words beyond my grasp to describe our experience with you. As with T, any father would stick his chest out very far in pride to say you were his, dear P… Thank you all for such a positive adventure. Your superlative service has blown us away as the wind blows the sails. Four of the most worldly and talented people all in one package. God created this lovely place and the crew of Akasha made our vacation. We shall cherish the journey we took forever. Brian Akasha by Maria Out in the Caribbean on the waters of BVI, sailed a cat by the name of Akasha, with a mast 100 feet high. Her crew led by good Captain Harvey, was as sharp and as keen as they come, serving guests with fine food and great service, and occasional glasses of rum. First there was P and Tiago, who served as the deckhands on board, and then there was beautiful ‘Rabbit’ the chef who was truly adored. Akasha ran coolly and smoothly, thanks to the skill of it’s crew, a well oiled machine at its finest, a task that’s not easy to do. And then one day in the springtime, in fact in the warm month of May, a group of nine Texans allowed them, to take them sailing away. They boarded Akasha with smiles, adventure and thrill in their souls, as the sails extended up skyward, their joy like the sea billows rolled. These Texans shall always remember, as they disembark saying ‘farewell,’ the joy and the fun of Akasha, and the stories they’ll all live to tell. Maria.
